Description

Peer support is a relationship-focused, trauma-informed approach to behavioral health treatment. This training will cover tasks and principles of peer support, effective communication strategies, and best practices for working alongside peer support staff. Attendees will leave with valuable insights into the unique challenges faced by individuals who have lived experience with behavioral health challenges and an opportunity to improve their knowledge of the role of peer support.

Presenter Biography

Alaina Knox is the Director of Recovery Services overseeing peers who work on the Peer Support Line, in the Emergency Department, Peer Training Network and Integrated Teams. In this role, she promotes the professional development and growth of Sweetser’s Peer Support Team. Alaina joined the Sweetser team in 2023, but she has worked in various roles as a lived experience professional.
