This Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, brought to you by Sweetser and the YMCA Alliance of Northern New England, is a FREE comprehensive certification course teaching skills to:

- Recognize signs & symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges in adolescents
- Respond to & support youth and teens facing mental health or substance use challenges
- Intervene & de-escalate mental health crisis situations
- Connect youth with appropriate mental health supports, including resources/services across Maine
- Understand the impact of trauma and bullying on youth/teen mental health
- Develop & practice self-care habits (how to better support yourself to better support others!)

Taught by certified YMHFA Instructors from Sweetser, licensed through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. 
Completion of this training awards Youth Mental Health First Aider certification through NCMW, valid for 3 years.

Training registration is First-Come, First-Served. One registration per person per email. Training participants must be 18 or older.
Thanks to a federal grant through the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Sweetser offers Youth MHFA and other trainings at no cost to Maine residents through our FREE Mental Health Awareness Training program. Youth MHFA Training can be credited on completion as 6.5 professional development hours; this training is not eligible for credit as continuing education units (CEUs) for professional licensure.
